The Expressive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test (EOWPVT) -4 is a developmental norm-referenced assessment tool is an individually administered, developmental norm-referenced instrument that provides an assessment of an individual's English speaking vocabulary. It is standardized for use with individuals ages 2-0 through 18-11. Similar to a Monarch or Cliff notes-type review, our online course and certification provides the essential information in a condensed and more easily digestible format. This course is a review and training module for the Expressive One Word Picture Vocabulary Test. It meets annual State Early Intervention requirements for continuing education hours in assessment and evaluation. Differing somewhat from the older version which was normed on persons from ages 2-18, the updated EOWPVT-4 version has been extended to include geriatric patients up to 80+ years of age, with someone differing charts.
To administer the test, the examiner presents a series of illustrations depicting objects, actions, or concepts. The examinee is asked to name each illustration. The test begins at a point at which the examine is expected to meet with success in naming each illustration. The examiner then presents items that become progressively more difficult. When the examinee is unable to correctly name a number of consecutive illustrations, testing is discontinued. Raw scores can be converted to standard scores, percentile ranks, and age equivalents
The purpose of the Expressive One Word Picture Vocabulary Test is to obtain a basal estimate of a child's verbal intelligence. The test provides valuable information about speech and learning disorders, English as a second language, and auditory processing. Our on-line course will assist you and help 'fast-track' your learning curve, so that you will more easily learn about this valuable instrument and how best to apply it to the children under your care.
In addition to providing information about how a child processes language, the test provides information about the following:
- Speech defects
- Learning disorders
- Auditory processing
- English fluency of a bilingual child
- Auditory-visual-verbal association ability
The EOWPVT-4 is appropriate for a variety of functional and educational uses, including child assessment, evaluation, student academic placement, Individual Educational Plans (IEP's), Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP's), instructional planning, and to determine eligibility for early intervention and pre-school, and school programs.
